Scam Description

Roofer approached us regarding storm roof damage. After claim was approved by insurance and we received first initial check, we were asked to pay a portion of his initial cost of shingles. Paid him $7,200 and never saw him again. Nothing but excuses as to why he wasn’t getting our job done. Three months later after constantly hearing ridiculous excuses, we came to find out he never ordered anything materials for us and all his excuses were lies to detain us. We had to seek another roofer to complete the job as our time frame from insurance was running out with 2 weeks left to complete the job. Dealing with this entire situation nothing but mental anguish not to mention he committed a felony. Terrible when you out your trust in who you think is a straight up decent contractor and learn you’ve been dealing with a thief. The new roofer we got was able recoup some of our initial money to purchase our materials.
