Scam Description
I’ve been looking for a remote job on indeed for quite sometime now. I received an text message from a recruiter acting to be from the cohley company in New York. I was told I will have an interview with the manager on telegram which is an app for communication. I google the company to make sure it was efficient and who were the ceo of the company. They pretend to be the ceo of the company with his picture on telegram and was giving me an interview with interview questions. I was so eager and anxious to get a job they requested to send my ID over to start immediately. They emailed me an offer letter as well as direct deposit sheet which I sent over through via email. I’m ver upset with myself because I did not look into email it just came up as Cohley. When I knew it was a scam they ask me to go purchase a 25 dollar gift card to purchase some type of tracking device to put on my computer. They also had me create a business email with gmail which I changed the password very fast so they can not get back in. I told them I was going to take all the information to the police. I pray they didn’t do anything with my information. This has been thus far an horrible experience looking for a job.
