Vermont Business Magazine The Lake Champlain Chamber is pleased to announce new appointments to the Board and Executive Committee to continue the organization’s work.
“The Lake Champlain Chamber seeks to create economic opportunity for all Vermonters and is, by its nature, a true community organization,” said Cathy Davis, President of the Chamber. “Our work benefits from the knowledge and experience of our business community in a myriad of ways, especially with respect to our talented and engaged Board of Directors.”
Leading the Board for the next year will be Ashley Wainer as Chair and Dave Lane, Senior Vice President of ESG and Corporate Initiatives for Farm Credit East, serving as Vice Chair.
Ashley Wainer
For the last six years, Ashley Wainer served as a senior executive with Vermont Gas Systems (VGS). Most recently, she was the Vice President of Customers & Energy Innovation, responsible for the customer-facing interactions of the business, including the Energy Efficiency Utility (“EEU”), customer service, field services, sales & marketing, as well as new product development and customer technology solutions. Her focus included business development, specifically related to product and service offerings. She also served as the Vice President of Finance from 2016 – 2021 and held a position in regulatory affairs for several years. Prior to VGS, Ashley worked in public accounting at KPMG as part of its audit practice. Currently, Ashley serves on the Board of Mercy Connections and is a member of the Finance Committee for the Community Sailing Center. She resides in Hinesburg with her family.
“I am passionate about supporting the economic vitality of Vermont as well as retaining the talent that lives here,” said Wainer. “As a member of the Lake Champlain Chamber Board, I am invested in continuing to find ways to represent and support the business community and those who work-in, live-in, and visit the Champlain Valley.”
Dave Lane, Senior Vice President of ESG and Corporate Initiatives, Farm Credit East
David E. Lane has been employed by Farm Credit East since 2011 and has over 25 years of economic development, financial, and technical assistance expertise. He has primary responsibility for overseeing marketing, business development, and the business services division. In addition, he is the Legislative Officer managing relationships with several state and federal agencies. Dave has held the positions of Regional Manager, Branch Manager, and Senior Loan Office at Yankee Farm Credit.
Prior to Yankee, Dave was a Loan Officer with Vermont Agricultural Credit Corporation (VACC). He also held the positions of Deputy Secretary for the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets from 2003 to 2009, Executive Director of the Intervale Center from 2000 to 2003, and Director Lending at Vermont Community Loan Fund from 1995 to 2000.
Dave grew up on the family dairy farm, which he operated in partnership with his father until 1995. Having purchased the farm in 1999, he lives in the South Hero farmhouse with his wife. Together with his two sons, they continue to operate the farm and Snow Farm Vineyard providing wine, maple syrup, and operate Snow Farm Inn.
“The Lake Champlain Chamber is a real champion of the business community, said Lane. “It informs, engages, and develops important resources that grow our business economy.”
The Lake Champlain Chamber is also pleased to announce that Patricia Shirk, Program Manager, 89 North, and Karen Wisehart, Director of Operations, Windjammer Hospitality Group, have joined the Chamber’s Board of Directors.
Patricia Shirk, Program Manager, 89 North
Patty Shirk is a project management professional at 89 North, Inc., a provider of unique and innovative OEM manufacturing solutions for the biomedical industry. She has over 25 years of industry experience in engineering, operations, project management, and leadership from her time in the semiconductor industry. She is also a great community booster, serving on the Board of Directors for American Red Cross (Northern New England Region) and Project Management Institute (Champlain Valley Region), speaking regularly at the Society of Women Engineers regional and national conferences, and providing mentoring support for a host of STEM professionals.
Karen Wisehart, Director of Operations, Windjammer Hospitality Group
Karen Wisehart is a native Vermonter, who loves traveling, food, wine, and spending time with friends and family. Karen started her career in hospitality in 1995 when she joined the Windjammer Hospitality Group as a Sales Manager. 27 years later, she is still at the Windjammer Hospitality Group, doing business as the Best Western Plus Windjammer Inn & Conference Center, Windjammer Restaurant, and Upper Deck Pub. Karen loves the company that she works for and the industry that they are part of. Karen currently serves as the Director of Operations.
She lives in Essex Junction with her husband, Chris Line, and their 2-year-old Labrador retriever, Kurri.
