Creative Fabrica, Dutch Subscription Marketplace for Designers, Secures $61M Funding – PYMNTS.com

The Amsterdam-based startup Creative Fabrica has raised $61 million in a fresh funding round.
An online marketplace for fonts, graphics, digital designs and other content for designers and crafters, in addition to human-designed materials, Creative Fabrica also lists artificial intelligence-generated (AI) content.
On the AI front, Creative Fabrica has launched CF Spark, an AI toolkit that enables people to easily create AI-generated artwork through text-to-image technology.
As Roemie Hillenaar, the company’s co-founder and CEO, said, “through our partnerships with organizations such as StableDiffusion and OpenAI we were able to integrate [AI] technologies directly into our product and ecosystem [and] we turned our …  customers into designers overnight, empowering them to create whatever they would like to see in seconds without the need of having learned design skills.”
Although it started out life as a marketplace for digital assets, Creative Fabrica now operates as a more comprehensive ecosystem that includes design tools like CF Spark, online classes and educational content.
The platform’s offer is centered on a vast library of fonts and graphic assets which users can gain access to by paying an annual subscription fee.
First reported by tech.eu on Tuesday (Jan. 10), the investment was led by Alven, which was joined by LionTree and TriplePoint with participation from existing investors Peak, Felix Capital and FJ Labs.
Commenting on the latest raise Hillenaar said, “with this new round, we have the means to move faster and continue to bring inspiration and resources for the 100M+ creators out there.”
Joining him, Thomas Cuvelier, partner at Alven, said, “The Creative Fabrica platform, with a fast-growing user base in the millions, is one of those ecosystems where generative AI has a clear use case and adds tremendous value at scale.”
He continued that “AI-generated content is a great way to fill gaps in people’s imagination, addressing what would be difficult or overly time-consuming for humans to create. Founders Roemie and Anca [Stefan, co-founder] have been early to identify the potential of this technology while steadily continuing to build a market-leading company.”
Creative Fabrica said that the funds will be used to expand the platform’s designer network, enhance its generative AI toolkit, and expand its workforce.
